This is a common question. Once we meet and discuss what you would like out of my service, I will suggest a therapeutic technique that we might try together. Sometime we will combine a few techniques together or change course once we have a better idea of what works for you. Of course if you have a preference for which techniques you would like to try we can start from there.

This is very individual and will be guided by the purpose of your seeking service and discussed during our first session together. Sessions can be weekly, fortnightly, monthly etc. depending on your needs and our availabilities.

Therapy aims to examine the ways we think, feel and behave. Change may occur in each or all of these areas. The rate will differ from person to person depending on a number of factors, for example situational stressors or support available.
We will establish some desired outcomes during our first session together and check in with these from time to time to ensure we are meeting your needs.

This is a tricky one because its a bit of trial and error or as I like to call- The date your therapist game.
You need to find someone you feel comfortable and safe with but remember that this can develop over time. The first couple of sessions are a useful time for both therapist and client to get to know each other and think about whether they are a good fit and would like to continue working together. There is no pressure to continue if it does not feel like it's working for you.

Individual therapy is a 1:1 relationship with you and your therapist. The focus is solely on you!
Group therapy brings a few individuals together who may have a similar presenting issue or want to try a similar therapy program. The benefit of group therapy is it is often more affordable than individual therapy and can be used to supplement individual therapy. Group therapy also has the added element of Peer support and hearing from others with similar lived experiences.
ASK Rachel if you are interested in group therapy as she has run many different types of group programs and may be able to recommend one.

Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT) is a therapy that guides you to examine your values and develop ways to ACT in line with them. It helps you explore and address you painful thought and feelings that get in the way of acting in line with your values and the way you want to live your life.
Schema Therapy is a therapy that examines the lens through which you may view yourself and your world, particularly when you are in emotional pain or have unmet needs. This therapy also helps you identify the different parts of yourself and your coping modes so that you can develop healthier coping techniques.
Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy that helps you process difficult memories and associated beliefs that you may have developed about yourself. It is a useful therapy for trauma but has also been used for strongly held beliefs that are difficult to shift.
Circle of Security (COS)- Circle of Security is a program that helps parents build attachment with their child/ren. It also helps parents examine what might get in the way of their parenting, including past trauma.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)- CBT is the foundation of most of the above therapies and helps you examine how our thought, feelings, behaviours and physiology impact each other. It then helps us skill up in each of these areas with the hope that change in one will impact the other.
